2021 GT Diving Hedland Classic

Updated: May 28, 2021

The season is launched!

This Saturday 22nd of may the NWSFC held the first competition of the year in port Hedland.

Supported by GT Diving as the main sponsor, we have seen 18 keen spearos braving the early morning chop to compete and try to catch as many fishes as possible.

The visibility was very good for Hedland with an average of 15m vis all day. And the wind conditions went better as they day was going.

Boats went across all directions to their own secret spots. The comp Chanel 72 works pretty well and the crews could discuss with each others. Banter and bluffing were main topics to reflect the good atmosphere between teams.

All boats and crews came back on time with no issues. The VMR didn't had to start their mighty "iron pride" boat.

At the end the high scores and the tight margins shows of how good were the conditions and how nice is it to dive here.

The weigh-in went well at the PH Yacht Club and numbers of people gathered around the scales to watch the catch.

The results are as follow:

Champion Spearo: Michael Cliteroe 889.8 pts

Runner up: Chris Amiradaki 775.8 pts

3rd Spearo: Joel Taylor 764.6 pts

4th Spearo: Shaun Garlick 757.2 pts

5th Spearo: Robbie Peck 713 pts

6th Spearo: Ben Earnshaw 620.4 pts
